Welcome To Our Cargo-bay Stores
What Is This All About?
What started as designing a few affordable products for friends and fan groups has turned into something that has gotten requested enough that we decided to build a website to see where this starship might fly. However, the bulk of the data stream has developed over decades. You might remember something like this showing up in your own holo-novels.
While growing up during the sci-fi television series explosion of the nineteen sixties through the late nineteen eighties, so many of us fans dreamed of being those “weekly heroes” and wearing the uniforms and techno-gadgetry of our favorite space-faring crew. We often got scolded by our parents because we made our own Mister Spock science top out of a brand-new blue shirt from our closet… one that we would not have chosen to wear without those special modifications. We were often found outside riding our bikes as though they were starfighters, play-acting with our neighborhood friends as the good or bad guy of the week. We spent long hours of adventure up in the tree house, our fabulous duct tape and cardboard, dime-store-painted starship bridge. Yes… our imaginations made for the best of times.
Time-warp to 2022; that distant memory and remote feeling a lot of us share has made its way into the present, and those mental images are behind the quality of the products and the reasons why we do what we do at Away Team Gear. So, set a course for a place where only our dreams have gone before, embrace the vision, and fly with it.

The Rest Of The Story…
On a routine search and rescue operation out in the far reaches of space, your sensors detect a seemingly derelict starship in a sparce field of asteroids. Observing closely, it seems to be tilted slightly off it’s axis like a belly-up fish, but the lights… they seem to be flashing to a code of some kind. So you order your Comms officer to open a clear channel and, as soon as the crackle of brief static clears, you tune into what you recognize as an Earth broadcast signal from possibly back in the late 20th Century… maybe the 1970’s or 80’s.
You hear the iconic song, “Don’t Stop Believing”, repeatedly performed until three generations of people from all walks of life knew every word as well as the Happy Birthday song. The hit was by who they used to call a rock and roll band named Journey. You look around the bridge at your crewmen, a few looking confused and some already falling under the spell of music… slightly bobbing their heads to the melody.
Suddenly, another quick crackle of static almost makes you jump, as a hum-drum voice starts to speak over top the iconic theme song…
“Greetings! Welcome to the Away Team Gear Cargo-bay Stores, where you can find some of the most unusual variations of your favorite uniforms,” the female voice said, as if reading the words off of a prompter. Her words were broken up every few syllables with the slobbery calling card that openly displayed that the bored bearer of the message… was chewing gum.
“Release control of your vessel to our highly skilled tractor beam expert, Crewman…”, the voice stopped as if to try to say the name properly. “…The_oh_doe_rey… No, Theodore! Yes! No, Crewman 3rd class… Theodore…”
The ship suddenly jerks as though it just grazed the tip of an asteroid at full impulse as you start to make your way toward a makeshift docking rig between the nacelle pylons of an old Ambassador hull. You nod to your helm officer to allow the tractor beam access to tow the ship without restraint, as you hear the voice nonchalantly continue.
“Once your vessel is secured, please disembark into the docking tunnel and onto the “Gracie” in an orderly manner and one of our acting stewards will lead you to our fabulous cargo-bay stores. Remember there are no weapons allowed, set all comm-badges to emergency comms only, and your other detection devices on internal mode as we like to run special coupon codes for Away Team Gear on a regular basis. We also offer custom duty uniforms and gear as well, but you would have to make an appointment with our Ship’s Steward. Thank you… enjoy your stay.”
